4-18-05 RE: Barbara Lewis 4-14-05 Barbara called up to say she wasn't coming in. She said she wasn't feeling good. I asked what was going on. She said she had headache and dizziness. She said she had high blood pressure. I explained to Barbara that I had high blood pressure too and that every day she missed, she caused me stress and anxiety from trying make payroll with less production. She said she couldn't help it and I told her it was up to her. 4-15-05 Barbara did not come to work and did not call in sick. Another employee came in and asked for her paycheck which we declined to give because company policy prohibits distributing paychecks to other than the employee without express permission from the employee. I asked the employee what was going on with Barbara and he said he didn't know. He said that she just asked him to get her paycheck. 4-18-05 Barbara reported to work without a doctors excuse. I called her into my office. After she collected her check, she asked what was going on. I told her that I was concerned about her. I asked about her high blood pressure and she said she had headaches for four days and dizziness. She said she might have to go for a scan. She said I could call the doctor if I didn't believe her. I told her I did not want to do that. I said that she mentioned high blood pressure and I quoted her from an article stating that high blood pressure has no symptoms. She asked what that meant and I told her that headaches and dizziness are not from high blood pressure. She said that she found that out when she went to the doctor on Friday. She said she had a doctors note out there. I reminded her that she told me she had headaches and dizziness from high blood pressure and she denied telling me that. I asked her why she did not feel it necessary to call in on Friday and she said that she was out cold and she couldn't call. I reminded her that she said that went to the doctor and she said that's right. I asked her why, if she could go to the doctor, she couldn't call and she said because she was out as soon as she got home. I asked again, you mean between the time you got home and the time you went to sleep you could not pick up the phone? She said that she didn't want to call after all the trash I was talking on Thursday night. I told her that wasn't trash. I told her that I had high blood pressure myself and showed her the medication that I take. I told her that her being out and not calling causes stress and anxiety which aggravate high blood pressure. She asked so what are you firing me? And I said yes, we'll let someone else decide if your legitimate. CS
