A large number of guns are sold for home security but someone please tell me how that works.

I bought a shotgun and read the pamphlet included from the NRA which states that all firearms should be kept locked with the ammunition kept locked in a separate place.

So the burglar comes into your home and you are supposed to unlock the gun, unlock the ammo and load the gun.  How long does that take?
