2/19/2013 There are numerous arguments which oppose strengthening current gun laws but perhaps the most appealing regards the right to bear arms as the citizens' last resort against a goverment gone wrong. 1. Who decides when the goverment has gone wrong? 2. Who will be the new "leaders" of the militia? 3. What will happen to the liberals if the militia wins? Somehow, I suppose, these answers will become apparent when the time comes but right now it seems to me that the people with the guns will make the decision, the organizations that represent the gun owners will be the new leaders and none of these people care what happens to the liberals. It also seems apparent to me that most of the anti gun control crowd has little respect for the United States goverment, its system of checks and balances, the justice system, Congress or the President of the United States. They actually talk as if the current goverment is despotic. If you don't believe it, just ask them what they think of Obama or the Supreme Court or Congress or taxes. Unfortunately, these are the very same people with the guns. So what we have here is not a fight against gun control but a fight by a right wing, potentially militant and anti-government minded group against being disarmed.
