Senator Reid: Alexis de Tocqueville warned circa 1835 about how our new democracy may face a threat from the tyranny of the majority. Since President Bush's narrowly won victory(?) in 2000, the nearly half of the electorate that did not vote for him has suffered the policies of his reactionary administration. The several million of us who, for example, protested U.S. entry into Iraq, were dismissed as a "focus group". It is very much past time that this administration learn the advantages of compromise. Judge Alito is not a compromise nomination. Filibuster is arguably a drastic weapon but when a bare minority is being ignored, what choice is there? I urge you to keep up this good fight with all you have. Remember how many of us did not vote for this administration's agenda TWICE! Regards, Claude Simon
