Charles Auguste Simon 1/2005 We have a game that we've been doing for months already. I hold him and say "ba ba ba" everytime he slaps my cheeks with his hands. When he touches my nose, I say "wichhhhh". I snort when he touches my eyes. I say "riiiii" when he pinches my cheeks. 5/2005 Charlie loves pickles. He eats them all the time. We're trying to get him to say pickle to no avail. Then, Carolyn is in the supermarket and goes down the aisle and suddenly he pipes up, "piko, piko, piko!" 6/2005 I mentioned to Carolyn that the night light in his room was awfully bright. She said he likes it. Later I got suspicious and looked under the door. Carolyn had left the light on and we laughed and laughed. "What are you trying to do to him?" 7/2005 Charlie has this thing called "hose". He likes to get a hose that's running gently and just watch the water come out and watch it hit different things like grass. 8/2005 Charlie goes all over town with Carolyn on her errands. He's the most popular visitor they get. She goes to the pharmacy, the bank and the market. At the Bank, they usually give him a lollipop. This time, while Carolyn was filling out the deposit slip in the vestibule, he started banging on the doors, "CANDY", "CANDY". At the pharmacy, he's all over the place. He plays with the pharmacist and assistants while they work. This month, I received my prescription with different colors pills. I called them about it and they had accidentally given me 2x the dosage. I wonder what happened there? 9/2005 Carolyn was flicking around the channels during dinner and said, "what's on now?". Charlie piped up, "JUDY!" and sure enough it was 7:00, time for Judge Judy. He loves Judge Judy. He watches it through the entire show. One night, he was fussing a lot and Carolyn was trying to get him to go to sleep. He didn't like that too much. "More Daddy!", he said. 10/2005 Carolyn was putting Charlie down for a nap in the afternoon and she wanted him not to sleep too long so he could still get a long nights sleep later on. "Don't sleep too long, Charlie, OK?" He put his foot up on the rail of the crib and took a long slug of jupe. Then he said, "Relax.". Charlie has this thing he calls "Plant". He goes out on the front stoop and waters everything with a plastic watering can. He waters the plants, the grass, the concrete, the woodchips, the plastic. When he's poured out all the water, he comes to the door and says, "More plant". One day he wanted to go do "plant" late in the evening. It was already getting dark and cold. "Plant", he said. "Plant". Carolyn told him, "Ok, Charlie, but just one. Its getting late." He looked at her and said, "Two". We were floored. Then she said, "Ok, but just two." He responded, "Three". Charlie makes up games and things to do all the time. He has this thing called "I gee bump". He says "I gee bump mama" or "I gee bump banana". Who knows what that means but I do it with him back and forth? "I gee bump Donald Trump". It doesn't really matter what you "I gee bump". Another game he plays is with pronunciation. He says "apple" a certain way and I comeback with a different voice and he comes back with a still different voice and this goes on until he gets board. Charles loves to dance and listen to music. "Mccoo!", he says. Sometimes he walks around kind of stiff legged like a trotter. I called him "high stepper'" and now so does he. "High tepper!", he says. He also loves his books and he can tell you everything that's going to happen before it happens. He remembers every page. Sometimes he sits for a long time leafing through books. Sometimes he just starts laughing as he "reads". Charles was playing on the stoop around Halloween time and the front door was open. Carolyn heard, "OH NO!". She asked, "What?" He said, "Punkint!". She said, "What about the pumpkin?". He said, "Bye bye punkint." She went to the front door to see the pumpkin rolling down the driveway. Charlie learned "bye bye" really early but was a little confused about it. He would say it to me with no apparent reason. So I would say, "Bye Bye except for one thing. I'm staying with you!". After that he would start it at random times. Charlie goes to Kindermusic which is a music and dance playtime for kids. She says that they are starting to orient the class towards Charlie. He calls the songs and dances to do and they do them! Him: Bye Bye Me: Except for one.... Him: Thing. Me: I'm staying with.... Him: You! We played this little talk game ever since he could say bye bye. CHARLES' GLOSSARY AT 18 months He can say 100's of words already. 11-02-2005 Somehow he has figured out how to open the door of the CD Player, take a CD out, put it back in the right way, close the door and press play. He can also skip through until he gets the song he wants. He really doesn't have pushing the cd down onto the hub yet. Sometimes he gets lucky. 11-11-2005 Carolyn gave him a biscuit with butter on it. He licked off the butter and said, "Mo butter". Carolyn said, "I'm not going to give you a slab of butter." He said, "Mo slab butter!".
