Care to live on the site of Andy Warhol’s Third Factory? Yes, us too. 158 Madison Avenue (previously known as The Sundari), located on the cusp of the Flatiron District, Murray Hill, and Midtown South, is a t-shaped tower rising high on Madison Avenue, and sits directly where Andy Warhol’s folks used to hang, shoot films, and shoot up. A little piece of history, this plot of land is.

Designed by the folks over at Ismael Leyva Architects, the t-shaped building spans the entire block between 32nd Street and 33rd Street, with a finger reaching out to Madison Avenue. The building has a gross area of approximately 155,000 square feet with 37 residential floors and 6,000 square feet of retail space. The project is proposed to contain 103 residential units ranging in size from 540 square feet to 3,800 square feet.

Amenities include a private health spa located on the cellar level complete with a hot tub, a 58’-0’ x 10’-0” lap pool, a Yoga center, a gymnasium and locker rooms. The structure consists of reinforced concrete with a mat foundation attached to grade beams and caissons that will be driven 30 feet into the ground, to ensure the weight and anticipated loads of the building do not impact the structural integrity of the adjacent tunnel for the Long Island Railroad. The exterior of the building is a Curtainwall Unitized Structural Glazing System rising up over 450 feet above ground level.

Fancy schmancy, non?
